Luang Prabang has many activities to offer, but it’s especially good for all cultural tourists. That’s not surprising, since that was the goal of the government from the beginning and now the city became even part of the UNESCO World Heritage. However, that doesn’t mean that you’ll only find museums and temples in Luang Prabang. There are other types of activities, including amazing nature. So you certainly won’t get bored.

Cultural activities

There’s no doubt that Luang Prabang is the cultural center of Laos. Nowhere else you’ll find that amount of temples and other cultural sites. Some interesting choices are the National Museum (the former Royal Palace), Wat Xieng Thong, and Mount Phou Si.

Natural activities

As with the rest of Laos, there’s also a lot of nature in Luang Prabang, but the most beautiful area is the one around the waterfall. The Kuang Si Waterfall is the best natural attraction in the whole city. Although we’ve already seen quite some waterfalls in our life Kuang Si is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful ones. It looks exactly like in the pictures. If you’re there you can also visit the Pak Ou Caves or the nearby Butterfly Park.

Markets

Of all the markets in Luang Prabang, there are especially two you should remember: The Night Market and the Morning Market. While the Night Market is aimed at tourists, the Morning Market is aimed at locals. The only downside is, that you’ll have to wake up early if you want to visit the Morning Market. It’s worth it tho. Nowhere else you’ll get a similar local experience. Get ready for a culture shock.

Cost of activities in Luang Prabang

To be honest the cost of activities isn’t that high. Neither for cultural activities nor natural activities, you’ll have to pay high entrance fees and also extras like taking specific pictures aren’t very pricey. The only thing that’ll make things way more expensive are the transport fees. If the price for a car or tuk-tuk seems way too high consider bargaining. Luckily you won’t need transport that often since most of the attractions are in the city center and you’ll be able to walk.
