If you‘re looking for an art museum in Vientiane, your choices are limited. Except the Lao National Museum there aren’t many places, where you can find traditional art. When it comes to modern art, the situation is even worse, but at least you have the Trick Art Museum Laos. The Trick Art Museum offers interactive exhibits with special 3D artwork. That’s pretty cool, if you want to take some selfies and endulge in a fun experience. Families with kids are definitely going to enjoy the fun and interactive exhibits.
Where is the Trick Art Museum located?
As we mentioned already, the Trick Art Museum Laos is located in the Vientiane Center Lao shopping mall. All you have to do, is go up to the penultimate floor. The museum is not far from the Yuyuto Playground. You‘ll notice it directly if you walk around a bit. If you don’t know where the said shopping mall is, just check out our article.
How high is the
entrance fee for the Trick Art Museum?
The entrance fee depends on whether you are a foreigner or a Lao citizen and whether you’re a child or an adult. Accordingly, you can expect the following prices:
- 50.000 kip for Lao adults
- 20.000 kip for Lao children
- 100.000 kip or 10 US dollars for foreign adults
- 50.000 kip or 5 US dollars for foreign children
You might have already realized that 100.000 kip is way less than 10 US dollars. To be specific, it’s about half the amount. What sounds a bit strange is not so uncommon and reflects the dual pricing policies for some tourist attractions. As a foreigner living in Laos you might pay less than as a foreigner traveling around. Is the price worth it? Well, that depends, but we don’t think it’s too high. If you like taking selfies, you’re definitely going to spend at least one or two hours there and even if not, it can be quite fun. At least, if you’re with a friend, your partner or family.
What you can see in the Trick Art Museum
We don‘t remember all the different themes in the museum. What we can say for sure, is, that there are lots of different scenes ranging from the age of dinosaurs to beautiful underwater worlds. Some of the 3D paintings are really well done and if you take the pictures properly, people might think, that you’re in the middle of the action. Below you can see three of our personal favorites.
This art is the main attraction of the dinosaur theme. Especially kids will definitely love it.
We don’t know exactly from which theme this picture was taken, but we really like the 3D effect. It looks like you’re about to fall from the hanging bridge into the depths of the waterfall.
Well, this one is a very provocative and real display of the world we’re living in. It’s by far one of the most creative art pieces you’re going to find in the Trick Art Museum Laos. There aren’t that many other artworks with a deeper message, but there are a few more with a provocative concept.
Do we have any more pictures? Well, actually, we have a ton of them. Anyway, it wouldn’t be fun if we shared them all here. After all, you should go there yourself, right?
Other museums worth visiting
As we mentioned already, there aren’t too many art museums in Vientiane, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to see. There are still a few worthwhile options. For traditional art, we recommend the Lao Art Museum, which has a great collection of stone and wood sculptures. There are also a few beautiful paintings displayed there. For modern art, we really don’t have any idea about the current scene. There were some private art galleries in the past, but if they still exist or where they are located is another question.
