In one of our previous articles we already talked about the hair salons in Vientiane, but if you’re a man you’re probably more interested in the barbers in the city. That’s totally understandable, since barbershops cater specifically to the grooming needs of men. Well, we have good news for you: There are some barbers in Vientiane with great ratings on Google and while most of them come from Lao people, there are also ratings from expats and even tourists.

Barber Station
This barber shop in Vientiane offers friendly and skilled barbers. Most of them can speak at least another foreign language like Chinese or English. Barber Station is affordable, clean and professional. The only downside is that sometimes it can feel a bit rushed during busy times. That usually doesn’t affect the quality of the haircut, but it’s still better to come early or make a reservation to get the best possible experience.
Kicks & Kuts Barber Shop
Kicks & Kuts Barber Shop is one of the few that got so popular that it opened a second barbershop in Vientiane (Kicks & Kuts Barber Shop 02). The second shop is even more popular than the original, but it really doesn’t matter too much which one you visit. You’ll have to pay a bit more than other barbers, but for that you get excellent service. There are even tourists that said that their haircut here was one of the best they ever got in Asia.
Lao Barber Shop
One of the smaller barbershops in Vientiane and definitely the best option if you’re looking for a cheap men’s haircut. Most of the customers are Lao people and it might get crowded with locals. The overall quality is pretty good. Just don’t expect fancy ambience. Everything here is simple. From the haircuts to the decor over the services offered.
London Barber
Although a bit less popular than the other barbershops mentioned here, the London Barber is still worth considering. What surprises is that most reviews are either very positive or very negative. That could be because different barbers work here and some are more experienced and skilled than others.
Mr Barber Shop
This barber in Vientiane is particularly popular among Koreans and the main reason for that is that most of the staff speaks Korean. Surprisingly, despite its popularity, the prices are very low. You can get great haircuts for cheap prices. It’s recommended to make a reservation, because it gets packed at times. Overall, there’s a great atmosphere. Definitely a valid option.
Our impressions of the barbers in Vientiane
If you’re a man and looking for a good barber, you won’t be disappointed with the options you have in Vientiane. Unlike most of the other cities in Laos, there are some excellent barbershops, and many of them have a lot of experience, even with foreigners. Some have staff that speaks Chinese, English, Korean, or another foreign language. Here are a few reasons to visit a barbershop in the capital:
- Convenient locations
- Friendly staff
- Experience with foreign hair
- Good value for money
- Great service
After all, there aren’t many disadvantages. One of the few is that some barbershops tend to be pretty crowded and might not have enough staff to handle all customers efficiently. That’s a minor issue, but the overall experience is still great.
Prices of the barbershops
What you’ll have to pay for a haircut depends on the barber you choose and if you just want a haircut, or if you also want a beard shave. Prices vary greatly and range from 10,000 to 200,000 kip, so about 10 USD is about the absolute maximum. It rarely gets more expensive than that, unless you have some special wishes.
